What should I wear to an MSO performance?
We’re happy to say that we have no dress code, although most people opt for smart casual. This time is for you, and we want you to be comfortable. Some people come in jeans and others dress to the nines.
How long do most concerts last?
Our concerts last about two hours, including a 20-minute interval. Symphonic Journey and our Family Concert take about one hour and do not have an interval.
When do I applaud?
We love your enthusiastic applause! Most of the pieces of music we perform are finished when the orchestra stops playing and the conductor turns around. Some pieces of music have a number of ‘chapters’ or movements, and then it is customary to hold your applause until all movements are complete. The free programme booklet handed out before the concert lists the number of movements and provides a bit of background information for each piece of music that will be performed.
Can I bring my children to concerts?
Introducing children to the spectacular world of classical music is a gift that will last a lifetime. Children six years of age and older are welcome to attend regular concerts when accompanied by an adult. Otherwise bring your whole family to our Symphonic Journey or Family Concert, which is designed especially for children ages 5 and up.
What if I have special seating needs?
Are there any other theatre policies?
Use of cameras or recording devices is strictly prohibited inside the theatre. We also ask that you turn off cell phones, beepers, alarm watches, and anything else that might go “beep” during the concert.
TelstraClear Pacific is a smoke-free environment: smoking is only permitted outside.
What if I arrive late?
As concerts begin promptly at the scheduled time, latecomers will be seated at a natural break in the music. If you must leave the hall during the performance, please do so quietly. Re-entry while the concert is in progress is at the discretion of the Duty Manager.
Will I have to pay fees when I purchase my tickets?

Do I get extra discounts if I am a student?
Students with a valid student ID can take advantage of our special student rate of $15 for subscription concerts only. Symphonic Journey and our Family Concert have a minimal charge.
